Charlotte Rifle and Pistol Club is committed to providing training opportunities to advance the knowledge and skills of our members and the community.  Our Training Committee is developing the training schedule for our 2021 fiscal year, which begins on April 1, 2021. Once the schedule is finalized, we will post course information below along with a link to sign-up.

American Red Cross First Aid Course -
Blended (Online and In-Person) Class


Dates:
November 18, 2023
February 3, 2024


Practical Session: 9:00am - 11:00am  (You must have completed the online portion prior to attending.)
Location: Outdoor Range

Once registered, you will receive an email with the registration and access to the online portion of this class. Once completed, you will attend the Practical Session to complete the training and receive the two year certificate. 

When you understand first aid, you'll gain the ability to help those in need. Through our first aid certification classes you'll learn how to respond to specific situations, which will help you care for people in crisis as they wait for medical professionals to arrive.  Designed to help non-medical professionals provide assistance in times of crisis, this course allows you to gain an understanding of first aid best practices for a wide range of conditions including:

Asthma emergencies
Anaphylaxis
Burns
Choking
Diabetic emergencies
External bleeding 
Environmental emergencies
Heart attack
Poisoning
Neck, head and spinal injuries
Stroke
Seizure

NRA Range Safety Officer Course

Dates:

June 11, 2022
October 15, 2022

Practical Session: 8:30am - 5:00pm  (You must have completed the CRPC RSO Orientation in order to register for this class.)
Location: Indoor Range


Taught by NRA Chief Range Safety Officer(s), this course is conducted in a classroom setting. Range Safety Officer candidates will learn roles and responsibilities of a RSO; Range Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), range inspection, range rules, range briefings, emergency procedures, and firearm stoppages and malfunctions. This course develops NRA Certified Range Safety Officers with the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.

NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course

The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA affiliation.  Course topics include gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol inspection and maintenance, marksmanship, and shooting range safety.

NRA Basics of Rifle Shooting Course


This course teaches the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for the safe use of a rifle in target shooting. This course includes both classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. Students learn the NRA rules for safe gun handling, rifle parts and operation, ammunition, shooting fundamentals, range rules, shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions, cleaning, and continued opportunities for skill development.

Introduction to the AR-Platform Course

 
Duration: 4 hours

Class Location:  CRPC Action Shooting Facility

 

This Introduction to the AR Platform class has been designed to educate students who are both new and experienced with AR-Platform
firearms. In this class students will learn about the history of the platform, how it was designed to function, common and useful upgrades,
and will be taught how to safely disassemble, clean, lubricate, function check, load, operate, unload, and store their AR-Platform firearms.



Introduction to Metallic Cartridge Reloading Course


The Introduction to Metallic Cartridge Reloading course exposes students to the basics of reloading center fire metallic pistol & rifle cartridges with little or no prior experience in reloading.

North Carolina Concealed Carry Course

Date: TBD
Time: 8:00am - 5:00pm
Location: Indoor Range

This class is required by North Carolina in order to obtain your Training Certificate required to apply for a Concealed Carry Handgun Permit. It is comprised of an 8 hour mandatory classroom training with additional time on the range for practical shooting. When registering you must specify your name as it appears on your North Carolina Drivers License.

NOTE
: There will be a written exam on the content of the course along with a shooting evaluation. Students must pass in order to receive their certification.





South Carolina Concealed Carry Course

This class is required by South Carolina in order to obtain your Training Certificate required to apply for a Concealed Carry Handgun Permit. It is comprised of an 8 hour mandatory classroom training with additional time on the range for practical shooting. When registering you must specify your name as it appears on your South Carolina Drivers License.

This South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit class has been developed to go above and beyond state mandated standards to ensure students have the information needed to keep up with the ever-changing world and environment. This class includes lectures, practical demonstrations, videos, and interactive portions. Folks from all backgrounds and knowledge, skill, and comfort levels can learn and grow during this class.
 

The classroom portion is expected to take approximately 4 hours (including break and lunch times). Once we have completed the classroom portion, we will move to the range where we will begin the shooting qualification. This duration will vary with class size but is expected to last approximately 2 hours.

We look forward to knowing our communities are safer with more educated and informed citizens.



Requirements for this class:

  • Students shall already know how to safely operate, load, unload, draw, and use their firearm.

    • Students will be required to draw from a holster as a part of this course, so they must know how to do this safely BEFORE the class.

  • Students will be required to take and pass a 50-question written test with a score of 70% or better.

    • Question styles will be multiple-choice and write-in.

  • Students will be required to take and pass a 50-round course of fire with a score of 70% or better.

    • Distances range from 3 yards to 15 yards and scoring will be on a B-27 target.



Items to bring for this class:

  • A handgun that is functioning properly.

  • 50 rounds of ammunition for your handgun (minimum).

    • 100 rounds are recommended.

  • A holster that holds your handgun securely when turned upside-down.

  • Adequate eye and hearing protection.

  • Proper attire for a shooting environment.

    • Close-toed shoes, hard-brimmed hat, high-necked shirt, etc.

  • Tools specific to your firearm, optic, holster, and/or accessories.

  • Food, snacks, water, beverages, etc.

  • Pen/Pencil and paper.

  • Driver’s License.




NRA Basic Shotgun Shell Reloading Course

This course teaches students the knowledge skills, and safe handling procedures for reloading shotgun shells.

Hunter Safety Course

Date: TBD
Time: 8:00am - 5:00pm
Location: Indoor Range

More than a firearm safety course, instruction includes ethics and responsibility, conservation and wildlife management, wildlife identification, survival and first aid, specialty hunting and tree stand safety.

There are no minimum age requirements, however, classes are taught at a sixth grade level and tests must be completed without assistance. Courses are a minimum of 6 hours, taught by wildlife officers, hunter education specialists and certified volunteer instructors, and certification is accepted in every state and province in North America.

Due to hunter education, hunting accidents have decreased by over 50% during the last twenty years making hunting one of the safest recreational activities.
