"Mark Moss is a retired FBI Special Agent with more than 20 years of federal law enforcement experience and a deep background in firearms instruction, tactical training, and weapons expertise. He spent over 19 years as an FBI firearms instructor, including six years as the Bureau’s Principal Firearms Instructor, where he trained FBI personnel, military units, and law enforcement agencies across the country. He later served as a certified tactical instructor and the Charlotte Division’s Tactical Training Coordinator, overseeing advanced training and readiness programs. Mark’s experience is grounded in extensive FBI, military, and law-enforcement training, supported by years of managing firearms programs and certifications for hundreds of agents. Before joining the FBI, he graduated from the Virginia Military Institute and served as a U.S. Army officer and small-arms instructor, continuing his service in the Army Reserve."
Course Overview:
This course provides a focused, platform-specific introduction to the AR15 rifle. Students will learn AR15 history, component nomenclature, safe handling, disassembly/reassembly, maintenance, ballistics, malfunction diagnostics, and configuration options. Instruction includes classroom learning and hands-on application with live AR15 platforms.
Learning Objectives
Students will be able to:
· Identify all major AR15 components and subassemblies
· Use correct AR15 nomenclature for parts and functions
· Safely disassemble and reassemble the AR15
· Perform cleaning, lubrication, and detailed inspection
· Conduct proper AR15 function checks
· Understand AR15 gas system operation and tuning
· Zero the AR15 and apply holdovers/holdoffs
· Evaluate AR15specific accessories and sling setups
· Diagnose and clear AR15 malfunctions
· Store the AR15, magazines, and ammunition safely
You may bring your AR but no ammunition will be allowed in the classroom for the class. All bags/cases will be inspected.
